Has anyone heard of this book before? Its written by an atheist named Richard Dawkins... its actually causing a lot of controversy and I'm wondering if any of you heard of it...what are your thoughts on the book... I'm going to get the book to read in a few weeks.

Well, I had to read one of Dawkins's books for my organic evolution class, and I think this guy has got to be one of the most arrogant guys alive. Brilliant no doubt, but quite full of himself. The book (which I have indeed heard of--old arguments in new language) will make for some entertaining reading if nothing else.

According to this guy... In his book "The God Delusion" he says people of faith are basically stupid. Not only that but we shouldnt raise our kids to be "christians" we should just let them decide...LOL
I wonder how many prayers he has allowed his kids to partake in...

All jokes aside... if I was in a place where I had to base my "christian experience" on what I see... I wouldn't want my kids or anyone else to be a christian... that's just based on what is happening in the church today....

LOL... I feel you... but I can see, in some ways, why people are fed up with some Christians.... I'll tell you something weird... last week I had a dream about this "prominent" Christian in VA Beach. We (my husband and I) were at a conference and this man was there, but it was this guy preaching and he was saying stuff that was all out of context and it was in an attempt to turn Christians away. I was screaming to people around me not to listen to him... he's wrong and then this "prominent" Christian who owns a network in VA Beach (who I used to work for) asked me if he could see me outside. I said, No.. I have to tell the people that he is wrong. He started pushing me to get outside, each push was harder and harder until I fell and he told me to keep my mouth shut... I then woke up.... Weird...

There's a video of him over at YouTube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWL1ZMH3-54He's ignorant and veiled, but notice he says he's "almost" certain God doesn't exist. He's more of an agnostic, touting an atheist argument.

What he fails to realize is that we dont need 100 percent proof that God exists in order to believe, all God requires is 100 commitment from us.

Weird... WOW, misskay! I've had a dream almost exactly like that about a seriously heated conflict between a "prominent" Christian in Dallas TX and myself... turned into a "David and Goliath" episode... been (literally) carrying five smooth stones in my purse ever since... I absolutely agree with you about this.

...He's ignorant and veiled, but notice he says he's "almost" certain God doesn't exist. He's more of an agnostic, touting an atheist argument. Great to see you, sis! You reminded me of an e-mail a sister sent to me not long ago: Rabbi: How about coming to a Torah class?
Rubin: Hey Rabbi, you've got the wrong guy. I'm not religious. Actually, I'm an atheist.
Rabbi: Wow, that's amazing. I've never met a real atheist before. Tell me, what's it like to firmly believe in the non-existence of G-d?
Rubin: Well, uhh, It's not really like that. Let's just say I'm.. ..an agnostic!
Rabbi: Oh, really now! That's great! Tell me, what is it like to firmly believe that it cannot be known whether or not G-d exists?
Rubin: Whoa! Hold on there, Rabbi! Is that what an agnostic is? Well, that's not me. What I mean is, well, I just don't know if G-d exists.
Rabbi: Ohh! So you're ignorant. I see. Well, we can solve that. How about coming to a Torah class?
