What's up with these charlatans proclaiming that every believer should have a "personal prophet" in their lives? Where does that come from? Is the concept biblical?

Hey Krazee, it's all about the chedda! It's all about control! It's all about keeping one in a subordinate and submissive posture in order to keep one held in a "code dependant" disposition where as the "only" way one can hear from heaven is by way of some "profit" or some church which such philosophy contradicts the bible.
But if the believer refuse to "know" the Godhead for themselves by way of relationship and studying the Word of God with total trust and confidence in the revelation and illumination of the Holy Spirit and prove these charlatan to find out they were imposters and not apostles, profit and not prophets, than they deserve to be led with a ring in their nose and into the ditch!

Saints we know there is a lot of erroneous and in all honesty ridiculously stupid stuff that is floating around today. I am at the point with some of this stuff that we need to stop giving liscence to this mess and start focusing on what is the truth of the gospel.
When i worked at a bank they didnt show me every way that a bill was false. In fact they never showed us a counterfeit bill. They showed us every way to identify a TRUE bill so that way when a false bill showed up it would be easily detected. Even today years removed I can often tell a false bill from a real bill.
I would also caution you G3 not to take such an aggressive posture with misled saints, They are still souls that GOD wants to see free and delivered. Some people simply put thats all they know. Is it an excuse.. no.. Are they still accountable.. yes.. But lets show them compassion as well.
As one that has been there, seen it CLOSE UP, I am telling you its not that simple. There are often very very powerful spirits of seduction, divination and witchcraft at work in those arenas, which can exert a significant amount of influence on those who are unaware or unorepared. Pray for those souls as led by the Lord.
Pray for those who are misleading folks as well. Some of they started out as fakes but some of them started out as TRUE men of God who erred and Jesus died for them too.

Hummmmmmmm Im not really sure if What you call "Personal Prophet" is for today but I know that some Kings in the Bible times had personal prophets that God had place with them Like King Saul, God placed Samuel with him. Then The King David, God placed Nathan with Him. Im not sure yet if King Solomon had one or not in still studying His story. One thing to think about also at this point in time The Holy Ghost had not been given yet, and the Day of Pentacost had not came yet. So today, We have the Holy Ghost, and the Spirit of God already living inside of us. so we don't need no Priest or a Prophet to hear from God. We can hear from God for ourselves.

I'm leary of the idea of a personal prophet as well...
I don't think that God wants us to have personal prophets... I think He wants us to seek Him for ourselves.
At least I know that's the case for me... I have had many people come and give me a "so called" prophesy. And most of them are false... I think the people are well meaning... But false.
Yet there have been about 2 times in my life... No make that 3 that people prophesied to me and they were right on! Bull Eye Target!
God allowed them to speak a word for me when that was His purpose... But other times when I wanted a word from God. And I wanted the easy way out... to ask a prophet. God blocked me from them or hide them from me. And I knew it was God too...
With one man of God... I was trying to reach him by phone for quite a while and could never catch up with him. When I did he said... There is a reason that you are being blocked fomr me... You are the only person who manages to miss me. Or when you call something comes up that I have to take care of so I can't talk with you... I'm glad that he acknowledged what was happening because for a second I thought it was my imagination...
But the bottom line was that God wanted me to seek Him for myself.
As far as false prophets go and those seeking money... They are soothsayers and people should becareful because they are dealing with "spirits" that aren't of God. Plus what is the best way for the devil to get you to accept a lie? Add just a little bit of the truth to it!!!
That was the case with the 3rd perosn that I ran across that was able to speak to me with such accuracy... He was literally a palm reader on the beach in California. An old white guy that looked like he would have been on the Johnny Carson show...
Now i didn't come to this guy looking to hear from God or seeking the future... I did it ias a prank because I didn't think he would be able to tell me anything. My goal was to say as little as possible and see if he would do a "cold reading".
The man blew me away... I was on the beach with some friends and the first thing he did was to tell them to leave. Then he proceeded to tell me "Very Specific" things about my past life that there was NO Way he could have known about.
For example... On the day in question I was having the time of my life... I was on vacation in California... Hanging out at the beach. I was having a good time. Well this guy told me you are sad... You have been very sad... I was surprised because it was true... My father had recently passed away no more than 3 month prior. I had been very sad to the point that I couldn't get out of bed. yet on the day in question... I was really happy so I was surprised that they guy said that.
Secondly... he told me about a decision I made at 17. I had trained seriously as a dancer all my young life. it was time to decide if I wanted to go into it as a professional. I had gone to some serious auditions and was getting good at it. I was at a cross roads at deciding if I was going to buckle down and head to college and seek a degree in biological science... or try to join a dance company...
I decided that I loved dance... but that I didn't want to be a poor starving artist. Plus you can ony be a dancer until about 32-35... So I stopped going to dance class except for a few just for fun and I hit the books. I went to college as a Bioengineering major.
Well this guy one the beach said to me... " You love both science and dance... But you chose science over your love for dance" !!! It doesn't get any more specific than that.
Bottom line... A guy who didn't have a focus on God was telling some things that were true... So I believe he was hearing from spirits... And this is what i think goes on with the people who seek personal prophets... Those prophets may have started out hearing from God... Or seeking God... But they turned to the dark side...

I agree to what everybody is saying, but when I think of a personal prophet, I think of it in a different light. For instance, we have a prophet who comes to our church maybe 2 times out of the year. I promise you every time he comes...he has a word for me...and it always on the situation or circumstance, or something that I have been praying to God about. Now, I don't talk to this person..I don't know him from the next visting preacher, pastor, evangelist...or whatever...but I kid you not that he always has a prophetic word for me.
And the crazy thing is...its always dead on.
Like for instance, this time last year I was praying, about my weight. Started going to the gym faithfully, kept asking God why I couldn't get these pounds off of me. I would lose some weight, and it would come right back...seriously. I changed my family's eating habits, and would only try to cook them "soul food meals" on a sunday, but the weight...would come right back.
A prophet came to our church, I wasn't even in the sanctuary at the time(had stepped out for a sec), but he was talking about a woman who had been seeking God for a physical change in her body. I walked through the door, and saw women heading towards the altar, so I took my seat...and he was like...there she is (pointing at me) God said..its you.
I was told that, when I removed the stress from my life, those pounds would leave and stay off. And the stress was removed from my life in March 07 PRAISE JESUS...I started going back to the gym..(yea I had quit..LOL) in May of 07 and to date...I have kept the weight I was trying to lose OFF. Now, I haven't reached my goal, but I have reached my initial goal set last year
this is just one of the many things that was prophecied by this prophet, on several different occassions, and they are and have been coming to pass.
Now, he even made a joke, one time that He was my "personal prophet" because every time he came to las vegas, there was always something God had him say to me.
I don't talk to this guy at all. He doesn't know anything about me, except for those things that God reveals to him. I am not the type of person to sit around and talk with guest pastors, preachers, evangelist, prophets and etc..when they come to town...I get what I am to receive and leave.
So...in a sense, that is how I view a personal prophet...but I know some folks use a prophet to call, and say "what does the Lord want you to say to me"..and with stuff like that, its like 'GET ON YOUR FACE AND LET HIM SPEAK TO YOU!!"

Oh yea I meant to add that..This prophet was here earlier this year to minister to our church and said he was on a specific assignment from the Lord and he was sent off "schedule" to minister to someone specific.
Guess who? Yes, it was me.
And I will say that Gods Timing is always Right on Time. I have been through so much this year....
I don't give credit to the prophet, because I know that this year GOD has been so mindful of me. If I can describe how my life has been this year..its like...(hmm)
my heart has been ripped out, stomped on, chopped up into chunks, then cut into pieces, then scooped up, placed on a bag, bleeding drippn all over the place, then shoved back in its place, with a small note saying..."get over it."
But thats what I had to do....get over it...and grow.

Wow. I understand where you're coming from Sis. Jasmine, but what you're describing is different from what these TV folks are talking about.
