I have decided to begin doing the "right" thing and start eating healthier this year. Now that the holiday season is officially over, I have no excuse as to why I cannot begin following the doctor's orders!
Though it will not be an easy task, I am going to eat healthier and lighter and exercise more. Anyone care to join me? We can encourage one another in this thread.

My goal is to lose about 40 - 65 lbs!!! It will be difficult but not impossible. Eating right and exercise will really help me. I know that is alot of weight but hopefully by this time next year I would have reached my goal.

Beck..that's good holy and healthy. I, too am striving to become healthier this year. As I want to come off all medications that I am taking. I am beginning to understand it's what I eat and when I eat..and because the company requires alot of overtime..I realized that it was adding to the levels of stress..throwing my body off track for sleep and eating..and when I did get home I ate up everything in sight..desiring more carbs...that I didn't need. And don't mention exercise; because of the hours I was getting ..it was dinner and to bed..yet, because it's warming up here I can start walking for lunch instead eativing every day. My goal is 40 - 45 lbs..

My goal is 40 - 45 lbs.. Well my prayers will be with you as you press towards your goal. For me I had to start realizing that I cannot fulfill the promise of God over my life If I continued down the path I was going. Work long hours, spending LONG HOURS AT CHURCH, getting out of service 12:30 in the morning and then going to a diner to eat foods that wasnt good for me. I had to get some things in order. So.. I presented my body a living sacrifice unto God...Now im still active in church, but with wisdom, I dont work extra long hours at the job. I come home and I devote time to exercise and I cut back on the fatty foods and the carbs.. I still eat great but the fat is cut big time.. For example.. for breakfast I will have 2 pieces of turkey bacon, and a cup of Egg beaters on a single slice of wheat bread. Lunch I will have a wheat wrap with grilled chicken and Garden salsa with low fat cheddar cheese Dinner I will have brown rice, broccoli, and salmon. Snacks I buy the 100 calorie snacks.. and I drink plenty of water.

Beck..you hit on something !! Because of the long hours we spent doing everything else..work..church, and etc. We run our bodies down not realizing that weariness, the tiredness, the weight gain..prevents us from fulfilling what God has placed us to do..I was telling someone that we cannot carry the weight of the anointing and excess body..it's too much weight..

I am pretty much following the same type of diet that Beck is on. I am also watching the time that I eat and the time that I sleep. I drink plenty of water etc.

I will actually start my indoor walking this week (though no where near 20 miles yet!). We'll keep one another in prayer. When I first started out you remember I started walking 2 miles a day. Changed what I had to eat and the time I ate, and the weight started coming off. We have to start somewhere and have the fight in us to keep pushing even when we don't feel like doing it. I am determined to make it this year. I will no longer allow the condition of my temple to hinder God's will for me. "Didn't you realize that your body is a sacred place, the place of the Holy Spirit? Don't you see that you can't live however you please, squandering what God paid such a high price for? The physical part of you is not some piece of property belonging to the spiritual part of you. God owns the whole works. So let people see God in and through your body." I Corinthians 6:19-20 (The Message)

This is kind of where I am too. I would like a new apartment and then a house but I am not even keeping the house that GOD lives in every day in its best condition. I remember Creflo Dollar saying one day after a healing service that at the end of the day he was like ' Wow God you really moved, you healed a whole lot of people today " and the Lords response was " I could have healed alot more but your body is not in the condition it needs to be to handle that kind of anointing " That got me thinking... do I want to be the cause of someone missing out on something from GOD because I wasnt ready That also means prayer time must increase and Word time must increase. Study time must increase. We have said across the body of Christ that seven is the nbumber of perfection and this is the year that GOD is going perfect things etc etc.. The Lord is telling me.. thats true.. And I am starting with YOU !!!!

I think the health of the saints is a area in which we don't focus enough. I wonder how many powerful prayer warriors died because of heart failure, or because of being overweight, or from a heart attack. Yes they might have been saved and knew the Lord through and through... but how many of the saints was cut short in ministry because they didnt see the importance of eating right or exercise?? Im talking from experience... My Bishop is in a wheelchair NOW, with no movement on his right side, because of high blood pressure...He had a stroke and was overweight and didnt eat right or excercise...
There is so much foundation that needs to be uprooted in order to change the way we present our bodies to the Lord... There is a passage in provers that says... "put a knife to my neck if I be a man given to hunger". Thats goes to show the power of gluttany...If we don't take care of our bodies... we are killing ourselves.....
