What do you all think of McCain's choice for Vice President?

I think she was a bad choice....
She lacks the expereince that he claim to have a concern about in regards to Obama...
Not to mention there is going to be a lot of questions about her daughter and her pregnancy... For example there is rumor that the baby she currently has may be her daughters and not her own.... Plus the "9 month mono" daughter out of school deal....
That's an old code for girl pregnant and trying to hide it.... it went on a lot in my high school.

hmmm let's see, she doesn't believe in same sex unions, or same sex marriages, she doesn't believe in abortions, and she was raised pentecostal......... doesn't sound much different than most of us, now does she?

And, don't say the girl got pregnant cause Palin chased after her career. There are MANY Godly women, mothers of zion, prayer warriors whose own CHOIR SINGING TEEN AGED DAUGHTERS get pregnant right under their sanctified eyes..............I was one of them, sorta, though I was 19, had graduated from high school and was working for the phone company.

Yeah.... But just the same...
I don't want a woman that has 5 count em 5 kids, one with down syndrome... to be president.
That's too much to be on anybodies plate... Let alone V.P.
And Yes... it would appear that she doesn't have control of her kids and her household to have that level of control needed to be V.P.
Yes I completely am clear that one can't always be over their kids... But I have to say that my parents certainly had an iron clad hand of control over me...
That and fear!
And even still... they didn't have what it takes to be V.P!

why is it that some things are viewed as "that takes nothing away from him as president" (bill clinton) and other things are "i certainly don't want anyone like that to be my vp!" (sarah palin)

Hey Bill Clinton's behavior most definitely took away from him....
And plenty of people stated that they didn't want him to be president...
But the bottom line is that Palin has some serious responsibilities as a parent. And I wouldn't want her as V.P. because of those... Not because I am suggesting that she lacks morals...
I felt the same way about John Edwards.... I completely thought it was selfish for him to want to continue to go on has he had when it was stated that his wife had terminal cancer. But then apparently he was way more selfish that I knew!

I'm just saying it's such a double standard, such a good for the goose but not for the gander, such a contradictory thing and I always notice that when it comes to politics. Some are defended tooth and nail and others are hung out to dry. There's always a justification, too, like when Jesse Jackson Sr called Obama the n word, there was so much covering and explaining for him but when that radio host called a group of african americans nappy headed h's, everyone (rightly) wanted his head on a silver platter. Well, I wanted Jesse Jackson's head on a silver platter too. And Bill Clinton, and OJ, Kobe and every other person we (general) curiously and ridiculously defend (in my opinion). Why isn't right right and wrong wrong anymore? Why is it that when it comes to someone who's our color or our candidate or our party that we come up with every which way to defend them tooth and nail. I just don't get it. I was taught to call a spade a spade no matter what! Okay I'm through with my morning rant. This is just one of my (many) pet peeves.

I'm not denying that there are double standards....
But honestly... Does she or doesn't she have a lot going on in her responsibilities with her family to be V.P? Especially with very young children? And a baby of her own? Seriously... I'm all for women being out there with a top position... But I feel the same way when guys have a lot going on family wise as well.

I don't recall Sarah being a "single parent". Are you inferring that if someone has children with mental issues they can't serve in positions? Or that women with young children can't? Or that she should be punished because her quiver is fuller than others?

Nikkol, No I'm not saying that... But I am saying that a person's family should come into play into what kind of job they have and whether or not they are able to be a good parent and balance work and family....
It's no secrect the men that have powerful time consuming jobs are more often than not very poor fathers. They lack the time to be their for their families. They usually try to balance this fact with the claim that they support their families by making a lot of money and allowing their wives or the other parent to stay home...
This doesn't change because now all of a sudden that person is now a woman.... Nor does it chance the fact that the woman is more responsible and needed for a family that involves very young children... especially babies... That's why in court cases all over when parents separate and the children are young... the mother's get custody. Now let's add to the fact that this woman's family DOES really have a lot of issues....
Honestly... I would feel the same way if Palin was a man...
But why deny that it is the mother who is more responsible and more in a role to take care of a baby and small children...
And Yes... I would say this... If you can't keep a good eye over a teenage girl and her getting pregnant... then ...No... I don't think you have enough stability to be the V.P of the United States which is not simply a 9 to 5 job. And involves extensive travel... Not just all over the states but to other countries as well...
