I went to the site and I don't see anything that is shocking.... please give details I was shocked that she was pastoring. Hadn't heard anything about her doing much insofar as preaching and most of the website is regarding was regarding her singing....so when I got the email I was shocked that she was being installed.

Happy New Year Guys,
Yes, Nikkol, I understand where you are coming from. I guess I can't say I'm shocked, but more surprised. It seems that Pastor has become another step on the ladder of success in the Gospel Music Industry. I wonder if the fact that churches are TAX EXEMPT has anything to do with it. Things that make you go hmmmmm....................

May be God called her to pastor.... Church may be tax exempt, but her music, not.

Many people don't know this, but she was actually the assistant pastor at her last church, so she's already been performing pastoral duties. It's not anything new to her really.
I'm guessing that her church will be affiliated with COGIC. Interesting, since women pastors in COGIC are kind of a hush, hush issue.

OK. I'd just think that on the pastor page it would say more about her "preaching" ministry.
It appears that the person doing the service is COGIC as well....but I'd think that if she was going to be COGIC she would have "COGIC" in her name....right?

Pastor Gilmore was the first woman pastor of COGIC, right?... I met her way back in the 90's... she was about 90 years ago... Women pastors are not new to the COGIC. There was another pastor I met back in the mid 90's from California..

There was another pastor I met back in the mid 90's from California.. I think it depends on what "branch" of COGIC. There was Mother Oakley as well and than Pastor Maria Gardner...but I know that I've heard of two "separate" COGIC churches....don't know much about that tho since I'm not COGIC anymore.

Nikkol, I didn't know you used to be COGIC.
AT, I'm not saying that women pastors are new to COGIC, but it's something that's not really well-publicized or really openly embraced. For instance, women aren't a part (aren't allowed to be a part?) of the Pastors and Elders Council within COGIC.
And not all churches publicize the "COGIC" part of the church name, even if it may be on official documents and stuff. I know quite a few COGIC churches like that.

I think Marie Gardner is the 2nd COGIC pastor.... she spoke at a women convention, instead of bring the word, she advertised her own conference, very rule... I heard of Mother Oakley...

All that singin' and shoutin' ain't for free! So true... I remember going to a midnight musical and they stopped the musical halfway because they needed to raise more money. Dude actually said that they wouldn't sing another note and not another instrument would play till they raised the money...even told the ushers to go "man" the doors..... Glad I was already saved....LOL
