Honestly titles are not the problem. I believe that the problem is people are so title hungry, because they are power hungry. Really the issue does stem from Catholism, however, this is still a African American Issue. I have been to several white churches, where they do address each other by brother or sister, and in most cases they are on first name basis. African Americans, use titles against one another to make the other individual feel as if, they are insignificant, or My gift if better than your gift. or, you aint reached my level yet. Well, wouldn't the elimination of titles go a long way in nipping this in the bud before such issues arise?

Atthe same time, to do it the way it was done brings more attention than it would have had the person just asked a mod to completely delete it. OR, it could have been a glitch in the system - and therefore I questioned it so that no body would be accused of deleting posts.

I think that the issue goes much deeper than just stop calling people by titles..... they need to know how to get the self esteem that they need in a different way.

I think this is prevalent in the AA community because for years we (general) went without identity... N**** or boy/gal. Also, in the gender aspect of it... men are identified by their occupation... when GOD named Adam, the first thing He gave him was an occupation...
That's my two cents....

But you know the saying--power corrupts. This is why certain checks and balances were built into the structure of the church, and not using titles was a part of that.
