They could at least make Simon of Cyrene, who carried Jesus' cross, a man of color; we do the man was an African.

Well I don't know how this movie will turn out, but i can say this. The guy who is going to be playing Jesus, is a horrible actor. Don't know if any one has seen who will pray for Pastor Jones, but that was absolutely horrible.

It actually reminded me of Spike Lee's really early stuff...

On earth, Jesus was, after all, FULLY human, as well as fully God. I simply refuse to deny, disregard or minimize the significance of either/any part of His identity. Because God always has a purpose in everything He does, I believe it ALL matters... a lot. Jesus transcends time, space, culture and race. That concept is at the heart of the Incarnation. John's gospel states: "The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. And we beheld his glory, the glory of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." (John 1:14) But, at the same time...Incarnation means that Jesus of Nazareth had a real body, with definite physical characteristics. Yet, for whatever reason, not one of the biblical writers bothered to describe Jesus' appearance for us. We do know that he got hungry and thirsty, slept during storms, cried real tears, felt real pain.... The Jesus of history was a specific individual with a family lineage, genetic profile and definite physical manifestations. In some ways, and imho, to deny his particularity is to deny his incarnation. So while I would be inclined to agree that (perhaps) Jesus' "human-ness" doesn't matter as much or in the same way as His "God-ness", even that wouldn't and doesn't lead me to conclude that his physicality doesn't matter at all.

Sis Jas, somebody brought the movie "Pastor Jones" to a women's ministry meeting I was at and, seeing it again, I thought about our "review" of it. And so when I saw (((((((Sis ybrown))))))) on here the other day, I meant to ask her if she could possibly please help that brotha out with his vision and future projects! blackchristianmovies.com Btw, did anybody see "Color of the Cross" yet? Looks like I'm gonna have to rent/buy it to see it.

The brotha needs mounds of help, but I can't even go there. I would have hoped those filmmakers would have at least learned to write, direct, produce and act before putting something forth, but....

Keita, Keita, Keita!!!! The brotha needs mounds of help, but I can't even go there. Oh well... I was just trying to enlist him some assistance, LOL! Seriously though, I really am feeling his efforts. Near as I can tell, it's basically (an issue of?) this one man (Jean Claude LaMarre) trying (having/needing?) to do it all. For instance, he's not only the writer, director, producer of, and lead actor in "Color of the Cross", he also composed the score. Hey! That sounds a lot like some churches I know.... lol!
