BOSTON - This could make for one odd family reunion: Barack Obama is a distant cousin of actor Brad Pitt, and Hillary Rodham Clinton is related to Pitt's girlfriend, Angelina Jolie.

Researchers at the New England Historic Genealogical Society found some remarkable family connections for the three presidential candidates — Democratic rivals Obama and Clinton, and Republican John McCain.
Clinton, who is of French-Canadian descent on her mother's side, is also a distant cousin of singers Madonna, Celine Dion and Alanis Morissette. Obama, the son of a white woman from Kansas and a black man from Kenya, can call six U.S. presidents, including George W. Bush, his cousins. McCain is a sixth cousin of first lady Laura Bush.
"You'd think with all that singing talent in the family she'd be able to carry a tune," Clinton's senior adviser Philippe Reines said. "But now it makes much more sense how she snagged a Grammy."
Clinton won for best spoken word Grammy in 1997 for "It Takes a Village." Obama also won a Grammy in that category this year for the audio version of his book, "The Audacity Of Hope: Thoughts On Reclaiming The American Dream."
Genealogist Christopher Child said that while the candidates often focus on pointing out differences between them, their ancestry shows they are more alike than they think.
"It shows that lots of different people can be related, people you wouldn't necessarily expect," Child said.
Obama has a prolific presidential lineage that features Democrats and Republicans. His distant cousins include President George W. Bush and his father, George H.W. Bush, Gerald Ford, Lyndon Johnson, Harry S. Truman and James Madison. Other Obama cousins include Vice President thingy Cheney, British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill and Civil War General Robert E. Lee.
Obama often jokes about his cousin Cheney at campaign appearances.
"His kinships are across the political spectrum," Child said.
Child has spent the last three years tracing the candidates' genealogy, along with senior research scholar Gary Boyd Roberts, author of the 1989 book, "Ancestors of American Presidents."
Clinton's distant cousins include beatnik author Jack Kerouac and Camilla Parker-Bowles, wife of Prince Charles of England.
McCain's ancestry was more difficult to trace because records on his relatives were not as complete as records for the families of Obama and Clinton, Child said.
Obama and President Bush are 10th cousins, once removed, linked by Samuel Hinkley of Cape Cod, who died in 1662.
Pitt and Obama are ninth cousins, linked by Edwin Hickman, who died in Virginia in 1769. Ben LaBolt, a spokesman for the Obama campaign, declined to comment on the senator's ancestry.
Clinton and Jolie are ninth cousins, twice removed, both related to Jean Cusson who died in St. Sulpice, Quebec, in 1718.
The New England Historic Genealogical Society, founded in 1845, is the oldest and largest nonprofit genealogical organization in the country.

In previous years..there were many prophesies regarding the 2004 election...that Bush was the man God had chosen to be in the White House. There are many who did not agree with prophesies. Reading over Kim Clement's prophesy it seemed to no longer be the case.

I have a dumb question. Are Americans voting for a Preacher or a President? As the bible states that judgment begins in the house of God, should not the pulpits of North America also be cleaned up? And I don't just mean moving to another church, because that is not cleaning up. Can you please break that question down for me kanyon? Thanks |

All right im stepping on this one. Obama is very specific in saying that he supports civil unions, and not gay marriages. There is a very distinct difference in Civil Unions and Civil Marriages. Also, as far as abortion...He's pro choice..meaning he's not specifically for, or specifically against it. I've thought long and hard about this one. Abortion will be around as long as folks keep having unprotected sex. Abortion will be around as long as individuals are convinced that it is the better alternative. Abortion will be around as long as women and children are raped. Does it make it right. No, it is morally and spiritually wrong to kill an innocent baby, however everybody aint christian, Everybody doesn't believe that an embryo is a baby. Do I personally support abortion..ABSOLUTELY NOT. But in the end...people are going to do what they want, and even with abolishing abortion...Women and Children will go to great lengths to get rid of the unwanted child. What do we really expect him to do as far as abortion? You are absolutely right Sis Jasmine that people will not stop committing abortion today nor tomorrow  and as as long as it goes on i also will not cease to prophesy/march or get involved with it and if that means not voting for anyone in whichever society that i am in then so be it. Of course there will always be unrighteousness and perhaps my lack of vote might not mean anything but all that matters to me is that when i am in the secret place with my king that i know that whatever society may say or no matter how crazy things may be going that I stood for righteousness. |

(I put this between parenthesis because that's what I was reminded of when I read Kim Clement's prophecies...
"We pray on Rosh Hashanah, "Our God and the God of our fathers, sound the great shofar for our freedom . . ."
The prophet Yishayah (Isaiah) (27:13) likewise spoke of a "great shofar" that will be blown at the time of the final redemption.
What is this shofar?
The purpose of that which we call the "messianic shofar" is to bring about an awakening, to serve as a drive which will cause the rebirth and redemption of the people of Israel.
There has been in Israel at different times, and today too,an awakening and an aspiration whose origins lie in kedushah/holiness - in ardent faith in God and the Torah, in the holiness of Israel and its mission, and in the desire to fulfill the will of God.
This is the "great shofar" of the redemption - the zeal of the people to be redeemed, born out of the lofty desire to fulfill the great mission which cannot be accomplished while they are wretched and exiled.
The Shofar cries out: wake up! You are free! You can set aside all that came before, and break the chains -- break the patterns of misbehavior and self-destruction which have dogged your path.
This is the message of the Shofar -- to awaken a person to this freedom, to the promise which awaits every one of us.
We have the opportunity -- let's grasp it. Let us truly hear the call!)
