To answer your question And Such... Yes... we should vote for Obama because he is black... Just as it is that we should vote for all republicans because they all claim to be against abortion... That's exactly my point Kitty....not to mention that he is qualified and clearly the best candidate for the position. Because I still say how can the republicans claim to be so concerned about the life of an unborn child and at the same time IGNORE THE CRIES FOR HELP FROM PEOPLE THEY CAN ACTUALLY SEE AND HEAR, LIKE THE MANY, MANY BLACK VICTIMS OF HURRICANE KATRINA. And as far as Oprah's religious views go, her life is not over yet. There is still a chance for her to be saved. I am so glad that the people who witnessed and prayed for me did not write me off. And as far as drugs, black on black crime and other atrosoties of the black community.....history should also show that at the root of all of this is the deterioration of the family structure in the black community, lack of community involvement and MOST OF ALL LACK OF STRONG BLACK LEADERSHIP. As well as the affluent blacks abandoning the inner city for the once all white suburbs and leaving the poor uneducated blacks behind to deal with the urban decay, lack of employment and poverty. AND who supplies the drugs to the Black neighborhoods? In the days of the Civil Rights Movement, there was solidarity among Blacks, regardless of our religious views...that's how we got this far!!! But most of us have a little prestige now and don't want to risk losing it, so forget the blacks who don't have and blame them for their own situation. God forbid we should reach back and try to bring our brother along. How convenient to "hide" behind our Christianity so that we don't have to deal. WHETHER YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF BLACK FIRST OR NOT...SURELY YOU MUST REALIZE THAT'S EXACTLY HOW OTHER RACES SEE YOU "FIRST" NO MATTER HOW CHRISTIAN THEY CLAIM TO BE..... AND THEY TREAT YOU AND MAKE JUDGEMENTS ABOUT YOU ACCORDING TO YOUR "BLACK SKIN COLOR" NO MATTER WHO OR WHATELSE YOU THINK YOU ARE.

Black people just don't know how to stick together....this has been our downfall throughout history. If there was ever a time for Black America to come together, it is now. Other races know how to put all of their differences aside, come together and support their own when issues and situations will directly affect them. I am not an advocate for Oprah's spiritual views either, but at least she has the good sense to stand firm in supporting a qualified Black man who might become the first Black president in US history. Am I understanding this to mean that we are to vote for Obama simply because he is black and forget everything else? Did you miss the part where I said that Obama is a "QUALIFIED" BLACK MAN?

Hey Guys, I was being sacrastic when I made the comment about voting for Obama just because he is black... And I made it because I think there are some Christians that vote for the republican party simply because they claim that they are Christian and claim to be against abortion...
If it were simply because Obama was black I think we would all be for voting for what ever position that J.C. Watts was running for... Or the other knuckle head that moved from Maryland to Illinois to run as the Republican choice against Obama 3 years ago for Illinois state senator... I forgot his name... If anyone can recall it then come back and post it...
But clearly most people are voting for Obama for more than the reason that he is simply black....

Hi Kitty, I disagree with you. I don't believe we should vote for anyone just because they are black nor do I believe we should vote republican just because they are against abortion. I do believe that we should vote based on the issues and abortion is one of them but to vote someone simply cause of race is not wise in my opinion. If O.J. Simpson was running for president, do we vote for him just because he is black? What about Al Sharpton? What about Bishop Weeks? I think that all people, not just blacks, should vote based on more than just race. However, that is just my humble opinion.

for the record...
I didn't write Oprah off, I just don't watch her show. I have absolutely no interest however, I do pray for her. And WHEN she becomes a Christian, I still will not watch her show but will rejoice that another has been added to the Kingdom.
Also, I don't care how other people view me first - it's not about them. I am who God says I am and it is THAT that I walk in. Who cares what some racist people may say - they don't move me.

However as far as the Oprah thing... her statement was once the Democratic and Republican campaigning began for the respective party nominations and up to the presidentcy she would not have politcal guests on her show...

There are many who will vote AGAINST Obama because of race and many of them are "I love you lord and I lift my voice" christians who believe blacks should know their place in life. As for abortion... It seems both Obama and McCain supports Abortion in some way... Both support partial birth Abortion if the mothers life is at risk. As a matter of faith both of them are against Abortion, but as a matter of GOVERNMENT policy Obama is choice. Why pro choice when he is a "Christian" Because America isn't a christian country and shouldn't be subject to Christian morals when we have the right of free speech. Plain and simple...everyone in this country isn't Christian. Separation of Church and State. Also please don't compare Obama qualifications to OJ Simpson, Al Sharpton, and Bishop Weeks... It doesn't do your argument any justice.

This is a quote from a sign in the Holocaust Museum.......

Also, I don't give a hoot how other people see me, what judgements they make about me, etc.... I am what God says I am, and HIS judgement is the ONLY judgement I care about. "There is difference and there is power, who holds the power decides the difference" Didn't JESUS CHRIST rise with ALL POWER in his hands? Didn't he say ALL power in heaven and in earth is given unto me? Isn't God is ALMIGHTY, OMNISCIENT, etc.... As the old song goes 'what kind of church is this?'

The one thing that I will not do is try to argue my point, get divided over politics, or discuss race to the point where someone is telling me that I must do this or I must do that because of it (as it concerns this election). Bottom line..it is a personal choice. I would not vote for anyone just because they are black nor would I vote for anyone just because of the abortion issue.

We can find a common ground in this discussion, I agree in theory with most of the above to a certain degree, HOWEVER AND who supplies the drugs to the Black neighborhoods? THAT drives me insane, when someone says 'well who brought the drubs into the black neighborhoods?' That is such a copout and another one of the man reasons for the deteriation of our people as a whole. THE BLESSED BLAME GAME. UGGGGHHH!!! I believe then when we admit that we are the main cause of our down fall, that from that point on, there can be real progress, a real return to the 'black unityof the civil rights movements, when we stop blaming everybody else for what's wrong with black america, when we stop excusing the crime, the family breakdown, the drugs, etc.. on everybody else and stand up and say it's our fault, and here's how we can fix it.

Oprah... have every right to stand her ground and tell those racist white phony women, who pertanded they love her... NO!... if they want to boyscott, let them! She is not going to kiss their behind by putting this racist lying woman on her show.... I don't support her new age belief, but I do support her a black american citizen that being attack, because of her race... Why don't they ask Dr. Phil or Rachel I just thought that this was a little harsh based on it being "name calling" and judgemental.....can we be midful of that?

And Such....
Did you read the rest of my posts? I made it a point to say that I was being sacrastic when I said we should all vote for Obama because he is black...
I am voting for him because he supports my personal beliefs for government policy... I also happen to be prochoice... As a Christian... I believe that abortion is between a woman her doctor and God. Plus I would never condone a situation that would refuse a woman an abortion in the case of incest, rape or medical conditions that would endanger the woman's life in which there are way more common that people are aware of.... Such as high blood pressure. Very dangerous for a pregnant woman... inspite of medications sometimes the only way to save the woman's life is to stop her pregnancy... Hopefully most case end up with a C-sect where the child lives... But what about the cases that the baby isn't viable?
We simply just don't talk about it... People have no idea how common that is...
Also And Such... I do think the only reason you are voting against Obama ( because you made it a point to state that you are voting against him...) is the abortion and gay issue...
You certainly have never stated any other issue that are important to you on this board...
Nor have you ever really stated why you feel that Obama just "doesn't get it"...

Come on Nikkol....
I thought that only applies to name calling on this board!!!
And yes.... some of those trying to high jack Oprah..are exactly that phony, racist, white women...
Is there a problem with telling the truth about that?
We call Oprah a silly, ignorant, on the way to hell spiritual guru.... I don't see a problem with that either...
