Lol! I shall just have to continue to agree with myself-as usual ;D. Not true, I do agree with your sentiments. completely but I do also realize that this generation don't look like what we expect them to. Hey, I was in the generation known as X. But now im royalty. I have standards, I have preferences, and what God has called me out of (including clothes) I won't return back into. And you are right, God never had to call anybody into drag to reach the masses. So Sistabee, I am with you, with a yay and nay!

it's all a conditioning of the mind.... you perceive what your mind conceives....for some if it's not 1, 2, 3.. it aint holy.. but it could be 3, 2, 1 for someone else... who's right???

I don't agree, whether you are black, white or asian, if we are going to do anything it should be in moderation. You cannot say to a (black) person that dying your hair blonde is not in moderation. What is the look? As long as we have the understanding that Holiness does not look like "church folks", in suits, then you'll have my attention. I know gay men who "look and dress" the part but if you keep your eye on them close enough, you'll find their lifestyle doesn't support holiness. So holiness is not necessarily about what you wear, its your LIFE. I wasn't saying that wearing a hat makes you old, I specifically said that if you saw my picture that was posted on this site not to long ago, the look was old for me. Again, for me I dont have to wear my skirt down to my ankles, I also don't wear any skirt that is above my knee. The more mature I become in Christ, I realize that I can dress in a nice mid-leg suit, I can dye my hair honey blonde, and I still can represent my father in a way thats pleasing to Him. I attend a cogic church with a pastor and 1st lady who is always decked out. The expect us to always dress our best, but they don't expect us to wear skirts down to the floor. Below the knee is appropriate enough for them. And again, before I walk out my door, I also have a Mighty Counsel and wonderful husband that will let me know whether or not, their approval is on my attire. Secondly, Im active in ministry and with leadership requires a more "conservative" look. The way I dress still requires a professional look, because I hold a professional job. Being free is simply that. Being Free! We have mothers of the church, who still go around chastening certain women about their low blouses, the short short skirts, even their hair color. Again, that does comes with maturity in Christ, and being able to follow the leading of the Spirit. Ultimately, when a person looks at you, they shouldn't see YOU at all, they should see Christ.

And your lifestyle will reflect itself even in your appearance.
My husband does the same thing. And I do believe that as Christians we should maintain a more conservative look. And I was referencing hat = too sanctified (set apart) versus being old.
And I wouldn't say that the seasoned saints are wrong... moreso that they haven't changed as many other things have. We can look back at how great of a role church had in the black community, or the "spankings" that a kid would get from not only their parents but their neighbor...... We have definitely come far from that. However, scripture lets us know Titus 2 3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; 4That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed
And honestly, many of the things that the seasoned saints have said has taught people discipline which I believe is lacking in some churches today but is being picked up by others........................

One of the problems I see in the church is the "lack" of seasoned Saints especially church Mothers..... These days if you go to any State, Jurisdictional, or National convention you will see church Mothers with Blonde hairs, streaked Auburn, short skirts, Stiletto heels and the whole nine trying to be young.... As a matter of fact I know personally several High profile women in the COGIC who are over 60 approaching 70 and if you call them Mother so and so, you will probably get cussed out!!!! You know these days 30 is the new 20 and 40 is the new 30 and 50 is the new 40 and so on and so on... O Zion what's the matter now? Tonex dressing and looking like he feels like looking is alright with me as long as I never see that brotha "cross dress".............. if he did that? That is to waaayyyyyyy out there for me and the Holy Ghost, especially when scripture is clear on men wearing things pertaining to women..............

Is their appearance not appropriate to be called sanctified or Holy? Because that is how this generation dresses. Side Bar: I actually remember TY "way back" before he was popular and how he was and use to look..... Anyways, I would say that that last sentence is where much truth lies.... Should we be dressing like "this generation"? Should this generation be making an impact on the "church" or should the church be making an impact on the generation? I believe that it should be the later and I'm seeing less and less of that and more and more of the generations impact on the church.....

So im not referring to the World. Im referring to saints in their 20's-30's with styles that are not Suits. Long flaired skirts, with tee's and jackets. Or tank top over sweaters, with hats, flaired skirts and steve madden dress shoes. the world does not dress like this. not in my opinion. I see the "world" dressing in baby phat, and apple bottoms and etc... Who said St. John Knits, Kenneth Cole, Donna Vicci, was the standard for saints?

Well, this "older woman" just came by to say this to the "younger women" of God, Where the Spirit if the Lord is, there is LIBERTY! So Receive His Spirit...Move in Him...Live in Him...Be in Him! And EVERYTHING else, including your wardrobe choices , will be alright! And just so y'all know, in the spirit of Isaiah 54, a whole lot of God's "older women" are just waiting for, and welcome all the male and female sons who God has promised will someday call us "mother". But beware, a whole lot of us will never be "matronly" if we can help it ... and ain't mad at those who are!

Keita..you beat that one !! As an older woman who attends a church with a bunch of young folk. I have this say, yes, I embrace my station in life at this time..but, I am not ready to lay down and check into a retirement home. Because someone feels that because I am older I don't have anything to offer anyone coming into the kingdom. Yes, we like to look good, and no, we don't want to wear the flower print dresses, with lace collars, or wear shoes with 1 inch square heels. And where are the Mothers of Zion..they're there not sharing the wisdom within because the younger saints..feel like they know more and will accomplish more without them...mainly because they will not listen. Christ never separated his ministry by age; he ministered to all who were afflicted. I found this statement very interesting..
Genesis 7:1 - The Lord say to Noah "Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation..
It was not attire, or the way he looked that caused to declare him righteous..

Actually, there are quite a bit of people that are looking just like Ty... and they even are trying to sound just like him and GA.... LOL.... I don't even know those people.... I have heard of the second name before..... LOL But it's moreso in reference to the style of clothing and not the name. What are you saying with what you are wearing? They all wore robes. However, there was a type of dressing that would be considered that of an harlot, even in that time.

Genesis 7:1 - The Lord say to Noah "Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation.. It was not attire, or the way he looked that caused to declare him righteous.. God Bless you, SF! Now if a sister, of whatever age, chooses to express her love of God and pursuit of holiness with "the flower print dresses, with lace collars, or wear shoes with 1 inch square heels", (and covering her head with whatever ), I'm perfectly alright with that. But now if she starts trying to tell other folks, and especially me, that God or His Word says ALL WOMEN MUST do the same, she and I might have a little something to discuss...LOL! And from one elder sister to another, I do want to comment on this: I've learned that too much of the time, we're not the best listeners either. And let's be real here; just because one is "older" doesn't automatically or necessarily mean they are also wise, especially in the things of God. Frankly, imho, much "elder advice" SHOULD be completely and is very wisely ignored... all in LOVE of course. LOL! I also find that as older saints, we can often be guilty of trying to "resurrect Moses" to speak to a "Joshua generation". So I'm learning to cultivate that "Joshua and Caleb thing". That is, the "different spirit" which scripture attributes to them and God both commends and ultimately rewards them for. I believe God always and still gives that same opportunity to the elders of every generation who truly desire to remain relevant in His changing times and seasons. Like Joshua and Caleb, we can't keep up with the camp without it!
