LOL..... I thought that they were at least designers. I don't feel as though you (general) should wear a certain designer/name brand stuff... honestly, you can get nice things that look just about the same for less without the name brand. :-)
I believe that there was a reason (a valid reason) behind things that were told in reference to being of the devil. If what the seasoned saints said was wrong, then the next valid thing would be to say that everything that they said was of the devil....... personally, I'm not able to say that because I can see the validity in all of it.

I dont believe wearing red, means you are a child of satan. However we educated santified folks now know that the color red was commonly used harlots and thus is where the term "red light special" derived.
However, the color RED signifies the Blood of Jesus for me..not harlot.

Nikkol let the dead remain with the dead. The christian life was never meant to be lived out by the standards of so called 'seasoned folks' no matter how good it was. Again i always call into question 'seasoned' and what it means to individuals.
I personally was of the opinion that a lot of so called church mothers were nothing but rattlesnakes in drag who had no concept of grace nor a personal revelation of it.
If you have had some divine revalation of the wisdom of seasoned folks and how it has personally enhanced ur life praise the lord and allow Him to be the one who reveals what is what to people when it is His due time for them.
Let us stop trying to make the gospel weightier than it actually is.

Keita..Agreed !! Bee..that's the truth of the matter, There are many reasons people don't attend church..yet, by and far it's the " what you can't and can wear" that turns off alot of people. It is understandable that there has to be modesty. I found out early in my own walk that the Lord will let you know if something is too much or not.

It is understandable that there has to be modesty. I found out early in my own walk that the Lord will let you know if something is too much or not. Interesting.....I actually hear that moreso from church folks rather than the unsaved...... many people that I have come across say "They are just a bunch of hypocrites" or "All churches try to do is get your money" or "Why should I go because they (the people) don't help me" and more recently the one I've heard the most is "I believe in God, but I just don't do the church thing." A lot of this comes from those that have either been hurt by the church or "church folk". This of course may vary based on region and there could be regions by which what a person can and can't wear could play a part. . Additionally, with the great number of black people choosing to become Muslim, I don't see "dressing" being the major issue. Especially since they'll totally cover up.

And also, all of them have to take their shoes of as soon as they enter the mosque... I wonder what would happen if we all did that entering the church Between all these extremes, and all the rules regarding the outside, why are we so concerned about it? Come on, even nuns don't have to wear the habit all the time these days. I just don't believe that God is into uniformity, only unity.

We do that already. I know I do. I work the altar barefoot.

I never made mention of the type of people I usually encounter. I usally encounter more people who at one time were sold out..saved and loving the Lord. And refuse to attend anybody's church at this time. Many people don't return to some churches; because they feel like they don't have on the right style of clothing, the brand, the right shoes, and for some it seems like a high a price to be saved.

Man ppl want to use the word to say what they want, and push certain issues, just like the "back in the day" saints (i like to call them) belived you shouldnt attend any football or basketball games or go to the movies, because it is of the world. And recently I heard a back in the day preacher (who i grew up under) say that Hollywood was no place for the saints, in other words the movies like "the gospel" or "left behind" should not be. I of course disagree with that. I think that is also a way of reaching the world. It's like this I dont know why Tonex had dressed like that , maybe he wanted to see what ppl were going to say, I dont know, but I can see how he has changed over the years, and matured even in his songs. But the brotha is different, he's unique, and there is nothing wrong with being auneeqsol... ;D God has put different gifts into us to be used for his glory. The back in day saints pushed that everyone should look the same and be the same, and they had their own reasoning for it, but times have changed, and we need to open our eyes as saints and see really what's going on in the world, if we are always preaching, let's take back our communities and take back our children . Well we need to be able to conversate with them and see things through their eyes. I know some ppl that look at the way the older saints did things and they say "if I have to dress like that, or look like that , then I dont want this church stuff!! Come on some things were not cool. But I respect them for their great faith in God. That's one thing that I have learned from the older saints that I have had the privilege of growing up around. And they did believe in living consecrated lives. So there is a lesson to be learned in everything. But we have to have a balance though, not be extreme and not be too reserved. Just like there are different cultures that do different things, even when it comes to christianity. God has no problem with understanding these things, he isnt shallow like we tend to be. And one's hairstyle does not stop them from being used by God for his glory. And for the record, Nikkol I just cant' seem to say that God will use anyone. Not in a sense of he wont use a bum or a prostitute or whatever because we are his creation and we are subject to him, but Im saying "in the work of the Lord" I just dont believe he will use just send anybody. I mean you have to be living it as well, not just anybody can be anointed, or operate under the anointing to minister to God's ppl. Just like the ppl when they said , well we know that God is with this man (Jesus) because he could not do these things unless God was with him. So that means not just anybody can come up and start doing things and be anointed and sent by God. Maybe im wrong but thats my opinion. Now ppl do and say things everyday, but that doesnt mean God sanctioned it. That's all im saying. Because the bible does say you will know them by the fruit they bear. There is a way you can tell who is who. God doesnt play games with us, and he doesnt fool us. He is clear about who he is. Just like the sons of Sceva, they couldnt just be doing something thinking God was with them just because they used the name of Jesus. Those boys got hold to something fierce!!! That taught them you have to be real in this thing....
