To all that have been hurt by COGIC Pastors please remember that there is a governing Board within the organization and you should report those Pastors..... I am not being funny, but I have never heard of such stories besides the few examples given by both Jas and myself.... I have never heard of people being sat down for NO reason..... then of course there are always two sides to every story..... True indeed, there are two sides to every story. I wasn't sat down, all the time just when I proved the pastor to be wrong...lol AHHH..u needed to stay in your place. You were a woman trying to Usurp Authority.. You don't tell a man he's wrong. You'll have other women engaging in your Shananagans. LOL Traditional mentality of weak men. Aint really a cogic thing

Ya'll are crazy !! I was sat down because of "she said" "she said". As a leader I was over the prayer ministry and there were some who thought they could do better..I am not the way to stay in your way if you feel that you can. The Lord was moving strongly and I guess someone wanted credit for that..I didn't care because I only wanted his presence. I was told called to come back and said "NO", the sister who called left soon there after..there was yet, another incident surronding those he placed in leadership. Sadly, this church went under Cogic...then I guess the Pastor didn't like some of the rules..and the name changed back to what it was. And I do agree..it's not all COGIC churches..yet, for it's many of those who are in or once where a part that denomination that's the behavior I see. Don't get me wrong I have met some wonderful persons who are a part of that denomination. ASWSOY..I understand what you mean when you say because of what called you to stay would not have been the best thing for you. And for me that was the craziness..everyone knew the by-laws and all that of that. When came to down to searching one's self in according to the word of God..you were always the one that was the problem..who was not being submissive..the one who was dealing with issues that you had long ago been delivered of. The titles were something I didn't find necessary..no one heard from the Lord except the Pastor.. Being told to submit to those who had rule over YOU; but, I am not doing anything you as of me..unless "Pastor Said". I heard the lies spoken as prophesy..I watched people jump in "money lines " and the solicition of funds and those who sowed receive "prophesies" that did not bear witness to hearer or just did not came to pass. There are many things I saw..yet, I will not disclose them. By the way I grew under "older" Pastors who did not practice this method of "discipline". Yet, because there was such a fear of God; you dare do not anything that displeased him. By the way this Pastor was "younger". ASWSOY..not all women are catty..there are some things I don't ever want to experience again. As for silencing..I see it as a form of bondage..used to get someone to submit to a Pastor..requiring that they be more obedient to a person than to God. And lastly..sadly most of the COGIC churches in the city I live are dying..I know of one that has closed it's doors since I moved to here.

hmmmmmmm I agree with Jazz, I don't think its any perticular church, denomination, or orgainization. I think alote of it has to do with the leadership. I know even with me Im with the PAW as you all know and there are sooooooo much going on with them as well. So I think its the church as a whole. This just reminded me of a song Ive been singing allllllll week
I need you, you need me were all apart of God's body stand with me agree with me were all apart of Gods body it is His will that every need be supplied you are imortant to me I need you to survive
I pray for you,you pray for me I love you, I need you to survive I wont harm you with words from my mouth I love you, I need you to survive it is His will that every need be supplied you are important to me I need you to survive.

When u get a really really large denomination umbrella it can be easy to streotype. Almost all denominations have adopted traditions and characteristics which are being passed down from generation to generation-some of them are good but it is easy to get in a rut.
Members of huge denominations can get to a point where what was once a revelation to a particular age and generation now simply becomes religion based on 'this is how we do it'.
God is always speaking and we as believers do not need to get caught up in things of yesteryears instead we should find out what God is saying to our generation and run with it regardless.
However having said that we cannot label every church under a denomination the same. Look at say the methodist church-those in my town may be the nicest but in another town they may be a little different-this is why we as believers are to view christians as individuals and assess folks on that basis because that is how God views us.
In even the best of churches there are all sorts because the kingdom of God is likened to a fisherman who caught all manner of fish.....
There is no perfect church and too often leadership can be abusive however i put that down to their own insecurity which is why it is important that we know what God has called us to do and that call should lead us to where we are supposed to be.
Like ASWSOY said when we know our call we will know where to submit ourselves. For instance i know one of the things that God has called me to is to feed the poor, i also have a passion for governmental and national intercession and encounters with the supernatural.
The worst thing for me would be to sit in a church which does not have a passion for missions in remote places or where supernatural encounters with the lord and his angels are a no no. However a church could have great things like healing, family centres and aspect of all the great things that God has for His church however i would still feel like a round peg in a square hole.
When i was persecuted in churches i found out that it was God leading me to shepherds and like Jasmine said: my wealthy place.
There is a place for our assignments and sometimes unfortunately God has to use painful circumstances to force us out of places where our time is up. To those who are called there that pastor or leader and that church is the most wonderful thing since sliced bread because that is where God has called them to.
As i grow in the lord i am finding that a lot of rejection -mind u i did not say all but a lot of it is so that God can move us or birth something new in us. A lot od believers are claiming rejection simply because they are trying to fit into what/where God has never called them to.
Is my church perfect-by all means no but however because it has all the elements of what God has called me to be and because my shepherd is supposed to be my shepherd i hardly notice the things that are wrong because the joy of being in ur place of assignment gives u the strength to endure any chastening because u know that is where God has sent u.
So like giants has been saying not only do we need to know God's plan for our lives but i also believe we need that having an ear to hear Him in the seasons He has for us is crucial.
There are seasons in God and many times we falter because we fail to hear what He is doing-there are seasons of testing and there are seasons of moving on as there are seasons of blessings....knowing His voice in these times for the believer who already knows Jesus and is pressing on into maturity is EVERYTHING.
For instance i have been out of work the last 4 months-the night before the job folded Jesus came to me in a dream and told me about the transition i was about to go through and so i have been able to maximise and endure this season because I know what His will and plan is which is why having an ear to hear Him as far as i am concerned is the most crucial thing for a believer.
Amen

I think that silencing in biblical order is fine. The issue is that since there is no unity within the "body of Christ", if you do something wrong at one church and are sat down biblically, you can just go somewhere else and do the same thing and noone will question it. The accountability that was back then (based on the scripture) would cause people to make a decision to do what was right or not. Nowadays, people can do what is wrong and be comfortable in it. Additionally, although there may be people who have abused "silencing", I do think that there are times when it should be done..... I just wish that it would be uniformed.... I know that Calvary Chapel has it very uniformed by which they send information to the churches in reference to the questionable behavior. Hi Nikkol, I strongly agree that silencing should be done more often from a biblical perspective. I was saved in a church where this was practiced, especially if you were in ministry. Accountability has been thrown out with the dish water in far too many churches, no matter what the denomination. Long story short, we were taught that if you have issues with self control or anything that is ungodly, go somewhere and sit down, pray yourself together and wait for God to restore you to good spiritual health. Far too many churches today are more concerned about increasing the head count than they are about what the person/s were doing before they moved over to their church. In many churches today people can walk in off the street and go straight to the pulpit. All they have to say is they are bishop, evangelist, reverend, prophet or prophetess so-in-so. No one bothers to check anything. After a short time and causing much trouble, they disappear just as quickly as they appeared. I have seen this happen many times.
