Actually both, however I have been saved for quite sometime. and what I struggled with 4 or 5 years ago, I don't struggle with those same issues. Thank you so much for being transparent!!!! Some of us would never admit that... part of our continued process of salvation... yes, we speak in tongues, but we still must develop fruit and part of that development means some things have to die and some die quicker than others... He prunes us and cuts us to develop more fruit prunes us and cuts us again to develop much fruit... we all have some things that we are asking GOD to deliver us from.... habits, thoughts, ideologies.... Jasmine, you don't know how much your honesty blessed me... ;D

And we must walk after the spirit, which is not something that is easy to do, when you still long to please your flesh. I believe that when we realize that our flesh is the enemy, we will strive to do what is pleasing in God's sight vs, what is pleasing to us

They'll exemplify Christ .You'll see the Word in them. T As long as you have the spirit of God, you'll know; if you don't have the spirit of God this is where a "list" can be developed... but it would be all biblically based. what does Christ look like? We always try to identify people by a look... I know you by your fruit... whether you "look" "holy" or not.. .if you ain't living nothing your "look" means nothing...and you can "look" a certain way and your life not match with the way you look... just like people tried to clean me up outside when I wasn't delivered inside... just cause I had the evidence of the Holy Ghost... I didn't look at my hands and they looked new and my feet did too!... I still had some junk that I had to be delivered from... still do...I am not yet glorified as Jesus is.. so my look ain't always what folks "think" a holy person should look like based on their limited knowledge of not being able to identify a person's fruit... a whole heap of folk have discounted folks because of a look... I'm so glad GOD looks at my heart and not what it "looks" like to other folk... be care of what your eyes see, cause they see things naturally... gotta look with spiritual eyes as Jesus does... I don't know if it is more so of a look or a presence...When people see the children of God there should AUTOMATIC be a change in the atmosphere... When we are at the mall the young people who are cursing ought to see us walk by and stop their antics.... When we are at the beauty shop, nail salon or barber shop the atmosphere in that establishment should change because you have walked in.... Not because anyone knows you are Saved but there ought to be something about you that command a certain type of respect..... Saints should posses a certain air about them that represents Christ...... So it doesn't matter what you have own your body you could be in Pajamas outside getting the mail and the mailman ought to see a difference in you...

Our goal should be to make sure that we are ready when Jesus comes. He's still coming for a church w/o a spot wrinkle or blemish.

I understand that this post was written based on a bad situation that you went through regarding how people were more concerned with the outside than the inside. And some churches are like that. However, my point still remains that if you have the spirit of God, you'll know. and what is on the inside will show on the outside. Like the old saints said; they don't talk the same; they don't dress the same, etc. Not because they are trying to be holy but because they are holy. :-)

I think that the question still stands if it is true or not......... a retraction or lack thereof doesn't make something definitely true or false.......... but we do know that that which is done in the dark will come to the light. Those in leadership need prayer; "laity" need prayer.... you can't pray too much. <<smile>> Amen!

I've always been disillusioned with the changing your outer garments... I know some older saints that will cuss you out while their hat doesn't move and they look right holy... or even if they don't cuss you out they talk about you like a dog... been there, done that... got a t-shirt... I just don't subscribe to the holiness is your appearance doctrine... it is so much more than that and I think we miss the mark when we are only concerned about appearance... Nikki, you know where I stand on this so it's not a direct attack on you... you know me better than that!!!

KAY: I Know ;D
At the same time, I believe that there is a balance. At my job, there are certain things that I can wear and can't wear. I'm told this in the beginning. People have been sent home from my job to change if their clothing is not up to par.... I see in the church where there is no problem with doing the same thing.
I'll say that just because you are wearing certain attire it doesn't mean that you are holy. However, I will also say that what you wear on the outside is still an indication of that which is on the inside.... it's a matter of teaching.

I wear sandals cause I don't see anything wrong with it unless you don't have your toes done! ;D I don't wear low cut shirts because I ain't advertising... that not a teaching, that's how I feel.... I never wore them... does it make that much of a difference at the end of the day?

I say let God arise and his enemies be scattered. God sometimes deals with us openly and other times he deals with us privately. But that is up to God to decide. Either way know this it will be handled. God is not going to let you me or anybody get inthe way of what he has intended. Thats the beauty of it his soveriegnty. God sits high and looks low, and all things will be dealt with according to the way God wants to handle it. now what i will say is this is a wake up call to the body of Christ. He is Cleaning House and this is the Clarion call for the people of God to get things in order and get prepared. But maybe the biggest problem is the people of God have stopped believing that Jesus is coming back. So i say all me included btter get ourselves together and right before GOd cuz its all goign to eventually come out in the wash. And either we will clean it up before he exposes or He is gonna uncover us.
Yes I struggled with things in my life and I have been in this walk for quite sometimes. But I can honestly say that I had a desire to get right and live holy before God. Some people don't want to live Holy as sad as it may be but its the truth.
We live in a place and time where right is called wrong and wrong is called right. But much of it that we in the church is due to what 2 Peter 1: 1-11 discusses. How many of us have really made our call and election sure? Are we missing the picture afar off because we are not putting on the virtues of God that we have been instructed too?

All I want is for someone.. anyone... to show me where it mattered to Jesus... what a person had on his/her body in this dispensation... at the end of the day.. is it going to make me more in less saved in the eyes of man? living holy is a lifestyle.. I agree... I still think we put too much on how the outside is dressed up... cause I can do up my outside and my inside still be unholy...that's all I'm talking about...

I agree Misskay,
I however do believe that because we do have a Divine presence dwelling on the inside of us, somethings that we did wear while in the world, we wont wear any longer.
Our clothes should cover. Aint nothing wrong with showing a little leg, but we don't need to see your thighs. Aint nothing wrong with wearing a v-neck t-shirt, but keep the sugar babies in the jar. These things to me i would actually consider common sense.
The lifestyle (conversation) should be holy. Thats what holiness is, a lifestyle..If you are a practicing homosexual, your lifestyle is not holy, If you are a practicing liar, gossipper, backbiter, cheater, clepto, lesbian, adulterous, malicious, jealous, envious etc..etc..etc.. the lifestyle is not holy!
Now do we all have areas in our life that we deal with yes. Thats the key word: Deal, or face. We don't practice it.

Amen, Jas! I'm finding that far too many people (including those who should know better) really (and often rather smugly) believe and preach as if homosexuality was the only sin that God's Word calls "abomination". I think that actually puts believers at a serious spiritual disadvantage in the battle against homosexuality. The same "sword" a lot of us are swinging is cutting us to pieces...trying to "ascend the holy hill" with dirty hands.
